What do advertisements do to us?

Today I was on the way to the office, and while driving causally, I noticed the glittering ad at the back of an autorickshaw. While the drive was long enough and the traffic made us snail through, I couldn't avoid noticing the advertisements bill. The ad is basically about a food chain which sells grilled chicken that has shortened its name and come up with all varieties of chicken. Hence they put up a picture of Peri Peri Chicken at a discounted price and asked us to visit the nearest store to taste it.

When I glanced at it didn't hit me hard but when I passed through that autorickshaw and saw the big hoardings after a few meters, in front of the KFC store a man biting the chicken piece seems to remind me of the taste of chicken and inquisitively making my mind consider eating chicken for lunch. After a few meters down again, there was a small outlet by FiveStar with chicken hoardings again reminding the taste of chicken and registering in my mind. Even though I cross this KFC and FiveStar every day to go to work but today that Peri Peri chicken ad got my attention.

I noticed with my 3 yr old daughter, after watching the TV advertisement and asking for that. Many times we bought and gave to her but she tasted one bite and threw it away including cereal, dark chocolates, biscuits and baked bites. Though she disliked the taste, she was often reminded by the regular ads. Sometimes she forgets the experience and asks us to buy it again. When we remind her expression and distaste, she remembers and stops asking. Otherwise, we may have to end up buying and throwing it up again;

The ads are actually triggering the emotional record in our conscious and subconscious minds. These ads register the item or brand in our minds numerous times. By doing so, they naturally become our choice in the next meal or later decision-making process. Say If anyone wants to make a healthy eating habit, they have to hold their nerves from these ads and temptations. Otherwise, it is very difficult to discount them and make a conscious and right personal choice for our own needs.

These advertisements are the biggest influencer in the decision-making process. If we are not consciously reminded, we may end up buying things which we may not want to eat or have.
